It was finally time to get into the hive and see what these honey bees were up to. Very exciting and only a little scary. Since I've been stung and have been proven decently allergic to their venom, I'm a little skiddish around them at the moment. I will say that a little bit of smoke goes a long ways to making them chilax though.

In the center of this shot- are the bee larva, some of them are already capped off and others are about to be. the bright white in the top left corner is fresh honey they've capped off with wax.

They have drawn out the frames beautifully.

this one they are still drawing out, the yellow part is the mold, the white is their handy work.

I know it's still March, but I was hoping I had washed the salt off my car for the last time this month. However, snow and forsythia are very pretty together.

and just a couple days ago we were out in the garden getting ready for planting, with no thoughts of snow yet to come. Big piles of beautiful compost (yes, compost is beautiful) onto our lovely winter rye. So fun.

If you ever get Raspberry plants, you will never be able to get rid of them. They now grow like weeds in our garden, appearing in very random places after branching off from their mother underground and coming up wherever they choose.

tonight's full moon was beautiful. oh to have a full format camera with a ginormous telephoto lens. this doesn't do the moon's fullness justice, but it's still fun to play.

We are a crazy family, and I love it. Every year we try and one up our previous year's Christmas photo. Here is what we came up with this year. And then some food prep pics. Our menu was: Duck breast in Orange reduction sauce (AMAZING) pork loin with pancetta and herbs, sweet potatoes and salad with blue cheese and spinach. yummers. Obviously, I only took time to photograph the meats, because the rest we were ready to dig into. Hope ya'll had a Merry Christmas!

We're doing the 'pirate arm' just so ya know.

Every Christmas, for as long as I can remember; Grandpa wore this bow tie. He put on a fresh white shirt, and old red sratchy wool sweater and this bow tie. It was his Christmas uniform. Now that he is no longer here for Christmas, I made his bowtie into an ornament, it will remind us of many happy years past. Here's to you Gramps, we miss you.

I'm pretty proud of this picture. She usually stops smiling when I get out the camera. But she was in such a good mood and her shirt says it all. I was smiling because she is so cute and she was smiling because she knows it. :) You can see the smile in her eyes. I love her.

I saw this old barn on the side of the road yesterday and wanted a shot of all these crazy old vines . I hopped out of my car took the shots and got back in. I had left the car in drive. God was so good... because I was at a flat spot on the top of a hill. Countless times I have jumped out to take a pic and never before NOT thrown it into park... so thankful I got the shot and still have a car. :)

I just want to dedicate this little note to the ladybug carcase that sits on the roof of my car. He.. or she... r.i.p. has been hanging on to it's dear skeletal life to the roof of my car for a bout a week now. I have no earthly idea why and how it stays on as I fly around, but it does. For that I am grateful, it makes me chuckle everytime I get out of the car and he's still there. So here's to you little annoying bug that lands in my hair and makes the vacuum stink when we suck you up, the little bug that parents put their little girls in costumes of, and how do you find your way inside in the winter? Hang on... until I wash my car.
